Holiday Mini Sessions are here!

That’s right!  It’s that time of year!  It’s time to get ready for the holidays!  There’s no better way to do just that than by scheduling your holiday portrait session!

 

Holly Anne Photography’s holiday mini’s will be held on:

Saturday, November 22

and

Friday, November 28

(the day after Thanksgiving)

 

Your ”mini” photo session will be approximately 20 minutes in length, in the studio, with a dark red backdrop. 

Your mini with one child:  $35

Additional person:  $25 each

 

There is a minimum print purchase requirement of $150.  Holiday cards will also be available for purchase.  Just call 281.645.6211 to schedule!

Important recall {re: Halloween Candy}

With Halloween fast approaching comes a warning to parents and kids regarding Sherwood brand Pirate’s Gold milk chocolate coins imported from China.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat, distribute or sell the candy.

It is sold across Canada by Costco and may also have been sold in bulk packages or as individual pieces at various dollar and bulk stores.

The chocolate contains melamine which is the same chemical responsible for killing several babies in China, and sickening thousands more.

“Joy to the World” Card

You may not be sure what I mean when I tell you that all the cards are customizable.  But, here’s an alternate version of this card with different colors, to give you an idea of the different ways a layout can look. 

 

 

 

 

Here is the tri-fold version of the 5″x5″ “Joy to the world” card above.

Remember:  each panel can be customized if you don’t like something about it.

Tri-fold Cards

You’ll see me mentioning my tri-fold cards, and you may not know exactly what that means.  We all know “tri” means 3.  Well, the tri-fold card has three “panels”, with two folds.  Have I lost you?  Well, as we say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look:  (In the image below, you’re looking at the back of the card)

Each side has 3 “panels”, so that makes SIX customizable sides that all fold into one 5″x5″ card.  Unfolded, it is 5″x15″.  Keep in mind that when you look at the design online, it may look strange.  But, that’s just because of the way it will fold.  The {front}, {back} and {outside flap} are all on the outside of the card, while the inside can either be a 3-panel spread, or three separate components: {inside left}, {inside middle} and {inside right}.  So, when you see the designs online you’ll see me use those terms, to help you understand which part is which.  Sometimes you just need to see them in person though, so just let me know if you’d like me to mail you a sample!

Holiday Card Info

Are you looking for a unique way to send holiday greetings this year?  Check out some of my card designs!  The awesome part about these designs is that they can be customized to get them just right for you!  How?  Well, let’s say your child is wearing a green shirt but it clashes with the green in the card.  No problem!  I’ll customize the card to coordinate!  Or, let’s say want something beyond red and green this year.  No problem!  The colors can be customized to coordinate with the color scheme you had in mind.  Or, what if you want a card to say “Noel” instead of “Happy Holidays”.  No problem!  What if you like the image layout of the one card but the colors or design of another card?  No problem! 

Customized cards, just the way you like them!  How awesome is that?

Classes for Moms

What a nice email…

I get really great emails from people all over the country.  Some are looking for a great photographer in another area and just happen upon my site.  Some are photographers looking for inspiration or workshops.  No matter who emails me, I always take a minute to appreciate that this person took time from their day just to tell me that they like my work and my website.

Well, I just got one such email, but this one is from a painter.

I just wanted to send you note and let you know how I really enjoyed your website.  It’s well done and your pictures are absolutely amazing !!! I’m not from you area.  In fact, I’m not even from your country.  I’m from Moncton in the province of New Brunswick in Canada.  New Brunswick is right on the border of Maine, USA.  I don’t remember when I landed on your website but it’s been in my bookmarks for a while and I visit your site from time to time. I’m actually really enjoying the music piece that’s playing right now.

The funny thing is, I was just looking at changing out the art above our bed.  We had bought new furniture early this year, and I had put up some black and white photographic images of lilies that I had taken, just to put something up.  But, I’m just not loving them.  I think I need some color up there.  The headboard is a panel, almost like a mantle where pictures can sit, so I had already put several options up there, to see what kind of look and scale I wanted.  Seriously, there were about three layers of stuff sitting on the panel headboard when Matt LeBlanc emailed me.

So, while I was browsing his site, I noticed that he does commissioned artwork, if you have a particular size or color in mind.  Now why had I never thought of that?  You’d think I would have known that would be an option, but it just never occurred to me to commission a painter for a unique piece of art.  So, Matt and I have been exchanging emails back and forth, trying to figure out the best size and color scheme.  I’m so excited to find out the other details.

So, isn’t it funny that he emailed me such a nice email on a day when I was already looking for a piece of art for a particular spot in my home?  Serendipitous.

We have the BEST neighbors…

Seriously, I think we do.  It was AMAZING to see how everyone pulled together to help everyone else. 

We helped several of our neighbors take down their fences, with my chainsaw-weilding hubby.  He and some of the other guys also helped out a couple of the neighbors with huge trees on their houses and in their driveway.  We all shared what ice we had, and we took ice to our elderly neighbor, Miss Elsie.  We hosted campfires in our little outdoor fireplace each night, and all we were missing were the marshmallows for the kids!  Maria and Sean offered up their home for James, so his mom, Lauren, could visit his sister in the hospital.   The kids played outside all day while we worked in the yards  (imagine that!)  My doodlebug and our neighbor, Brooke, both 5, had pinecone picking up races!  We all pooled our frozen foods together to get the most use of everything before it went to waste in the trash.  For any of us individually, we would have been eating some pretty blah meals, but thanks to Jude and her resourcefulness, we ate like kings.  (I think she missed her calling as a chef!)  She doesn’t have a gas stove, so she took turns on mine and our neighbor Maria’s.  Over the last few days, she made us crab and corn chowder, beef and pepper noodles, salmon and scallop alfredo.  I mean, who eats like that after a hurricane? 

Cleaning up the mess was definitely a lot of hard work, but it is amazing what fun we had at the same time.  We are just so blessed that no one was hurt, there wasn’t really any major damage around us, and I think that it really made all of us take a moment to reflect on what really matters - the people we care about!  

There are so many others that I’m not mentioning, but my hat is off to ALL of you!
